CASELLA TRAIN

The journey with the train that connects Genoa to the town of the hinterland of Casella is an experience to be recommended to all those who come to stay in our city. Hills, seventeenth-century bastions, mountains, glimpses of the sea, wonderful landscapes stand out behind every curve traveled by the small train, which takes about an hour's journey from the central Piazza Manin to the heart of the Ligurian hinterland, in a country setting that characterizes the scenario of Casella, in Alta Valle Scrivia. Inaugurated in 1929, the railway service has always represented an important link between the capital and the villages of the Genoese valleys. Since the eighties it has also become a tourist attraction because of the crossed panoprames but also for the beauty and authenticity of the carriages. It seems in fact to be able to go back in time. Along the way there are nine stations and ten stops where you can get off, to visit villages and boroughs and stop to eat in typical taverns where you can still hear the Genoese dialect and taste the dishes of the Ligurian tradition. In the town of Casella, the terminus of the route, and in its surroundings you can visit among other attractions the Church of Santo Stefano, from 1700, the magnificent Castello della Pietra, set between two spurs of Roccia, and the seventeenth-century Palazzo Fieschi, in style Renaissance and Baroque. From the CAMPEGGIO VILLA DORIA you arrive comfortably by train to Genoa Piazza Principe (20 minutes) and from there taking the bus 36 in 15 minutes you arrive at the start of the Trenino di Casella, just above Piazza Manin.
At the reception you will always find someone ready to help you create the most suitable route to satisfy your curiosity and help you better organize the time you have available.Following the campsite you can also buy tickets for public transport to move in the city of Genoa in full autonomy, the single from € 4.50 or the ticket for 4 people to € 9 which are valid for 24 hours on the entire public transport network in Genoa (train, bus, subway, lifts and funiculars). You will be provided with maps of the city and all the necessary information.
